Leo IX, pope (d.1054)

Biography
Kelly, Oxford Dictionary of Popes, 147-48: Leo was born Bruno, son of Count Hugh of Egisheim (Alsace) on 21 June 1002. He was educated at Toul and was a canon there before he was appointed bishop of Toul, which see he retained until 1051. He was crowned pope on 12 February 1049 and died on 19 April 1054. In 1087, he was reinterred over an altar in St Peter’s. His feast day is 19 April.
